Ways You Can Live on Your Own in an Apartment in Bellingham

Attending college usually means that you want to obtain a career that you’ll be successful in and that you’ll enjoy, but you might not have a lot of money while you’re in college. An everyday living arrangement for many students is living in a dorm. If you’re able to plan, then you can sometimes find an apartment that is affordable so that you have a bit more personal space.

Private Landlords

Sometimes, private property owners have homes that they will divide into rooms for college students. These apartments near WWU are often less expensive, and you’ll usually have access to basic utilities including water and power. Keep in mind that the charge for these utilities might be added to your monthly rent.

Pet Deposits

If you have a pet that you plan on living with during your college years, a larger deposit may be required. This is usually in addition to the deposit everyone owes. It is a deposit to cover any damages that might occur due to having a pet in the building.

Get Help

If you don’t think that you’ll be able to afford one of the apartments near WWU on your own, then consider getting a roommate who can help with rent. Larger apartments with three or four bedrooms could allow for getting more than one roommate so that the rent and utilities are even less than they would be if there were only two of you sharing the home.
