Tree Trouble? When to Seek Tree Service in Clearwater

by | Mar 21, 2013 | Construction and Maintenance

Clearwater is home to many beautiful varieties of picturesque trees, and no one will dispute their loveliness and benefits to neighborhoods and the environment. However, it’s also important to address the general health of trees, especially ones that are near populated areas where if they are not cared for, they can become a liability. Trees need care so that they may continue their wonderful contribution to their surroundings. What are the signs you should look for when considering calling in for tree service?

When you gaze up at the tree, do the leaves and branches look healthy? Do you see leaves that are unusual in color or size or dull-looking or different from the majority of leaves on the tree? These are some signs that could mean stages of tree disease.

Look for large dead or partially detached branches. It’s important to know if any branches have fallen and are still hanging in the tree. These “hangers” just need a small breeze to unexpectedly drop down to the ground with no warning, which is very dangerous! Even a branch two inches in diameter can cause serious injury. Stubs from broken branches can develop disease, so they also need to be removed during tree service in order to keep the tree healthy.

A leaning tree can also spell trouble. Most trees don’t grow perfectly straight out of the ground like a line, but we’re talking about a very pronounced and significant lean. Check the ground for exposed roots or cracks in the soil which could indicate that your tree is leaning or starting to lean.

Clearwater’s climate can do a number on a tree’s trunk and it’s protective bark. Inspect the tree closely for rotten wood, decay, and fungus, all things that can be harmful to the structural integrity of the tree.

If construction, landscaping, or tree-topping has been a part of the tree’s history, that stuff can really have an injurious effect on trees. A tree can become unstable if its roots have been harmed or disturbed, so it’s best to call in tree service to see what can be done.

If you see any of these signs, the best thing you can do whether preventative or if you find full-fledged damage that needs to be removed, calling in some tree service experts will ensure safety for you and your fellow Clearwater residents.
