In most households, a dining cover is used during family dinners, or when guests come. Whenever you use your dining table, you would use the cover. The dining cover is placed on the table first. Next a table cloth goes over the cover. Finally, the table can be set with plates, utensils, and serving dishes. After dinner, once the table is cleared. the table cloth and table cover is removed and stored until they are needed again. This allows you to enjoy the beauty of your table when it is not being used for dining.

The reason for using a dining table cover, is to protect your table. A cover differs tremendously from a regular table cloth. A table cloth is usually made out of fabric. It is usually used as a decorative accent. Whereas a table cover is functional. It protects your table not only from scratches, but also from water and heat damage. Any table cover you buy should be water and heat resistant. This way if a guest spills a drink or you put a hot serving dish on the table, there will be no damage to the table.

In some instances a person may wish to leave the table cover on their table at all times. Usually this is done when the table is used for more than just dining. For example, when children use the table to do homework, game table, or for crafts. Keeping the cover on is for the most part not an issue. The only problem might be if you have the table in a sunny room. The sun’s UV rays may fade the rim of the table and the legs. The result will be a table top that is darker than the rest of the table once the cover is removed.
