Summer is an amazing time to be outside, although the right precautions need to be taken. It is very important to your family’s holistic health to stay hydrated as the temperature rises so as to avoid serious health conditions such as heat stroke. Now, how do you remain hydrated this summer?

Eat more fruits and vegetables.

Aqua is not the only thing that can keep you hydrated. Some fruits and vegetables have plenty of water that will keep you hydrated in the summer heat. Watermelon, grapes, and cucumbers are some of the fruits that can help you keep dehydration at bay. Eat plenty of these foods every day and incorporate other fluids in order to stay hydrated.

Invest in a big water bottle

A refillable water bottle will allow you to take water with you everywhere. Once you fill your bottle up in the morning, you don’t have to worry about stopping to buy water. You will always have it with you regardless of where you are going.

Watch your coffee and alcohol intake

Drinking coffee makes you pee. This is because the caffeine in it has a diuretic effect. If you are passing a lot of urine and not taking a lot of water, it could lead to dehydration.

Similarly, alcohol is a diuretic, and it can also lead to dehydration. It inhibits the production of the hormone vasopressin, which regulates the excretion of water from our bodies. Taking a lot of alcohol while in the sun will lead to loss of fluids which will lead to dehydration.

Take alcohol moderately while taking water. If you are spending the day by the beach and having some alcohol, be sure to spend some time in shaded areas and take some water.

Summertime is an marvelous time to be outdoors. Making sure you stay hydrated and healthy will help increase the fun. If you are in Asheville, NC, and are looking for more Family Holistic Health tips, keep it here.
