An ECG electrode is a pad with conductive capability that attaches to the skin and permits recording of electrical activity. It connects to an ECG machine for an electrocardiogram test to assess a heart’s behavior. Electrode Types

Electrode Materials
Foam ECG monitoring electrodes have high adhesion for short-term applications. Cloth electrodes allow respiration and stretch. Wet and gel electrodes are faster at picking up a signal. Electrodes with tabs connect with alligator clips.

Sometimes a snapshot of a heart’s behavior doesn’t provide sufficient information. In this case, 24-hour Holter monitoring may be needed.
