Good Eats
You would be amazed at how many restaurants there are in Pune! And from every country and culture! It is difficult to determine from online searches how many there are but it is somewhere between 1800 or 3,000! Tripadvisor.com ranks Daily Treats, Kangan, Mix@36 and a place called Prego at the top of the list for quality dining experiences. There are also literally thousands of more affordable places— for college student budgets—pretty much one on every corner!
Resting Our Weary Heads
You may want to stay somewhere nice, but not too expensive. Some of the five star accomodations in Pune are Vivanta by Taj, the Hyatt Regency, The JW Mariott and the Hilton Shillim Estates. All of these are impressive and beautiful. Of course the budget-friendly lodging interests most of us. There is the Green Gate Resort, Amanda Valley Hotel, Chetak Hotel and Hotel Woodland, among others.
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
The airport is vitally important to any trip far away from home, obviously, since that’s where you enter and exit the country. The Pune Airport is also an Indian Air Force base, which adds an interesting attraction if your flight gets delayed. You may be curious about the rickshaw services, but these are not for everyone or long distances. Not a big surprise, but there are most definitely tons of cabs in Pune! Taxicabs and car rentals are everywhere at the Pune Airport. You should never have a problem finding cabs in Pune.
